he Arctic Circular Economy Summit (ACES) took place for the first time last year, bringing attention to the circular economy in the Arctic and other remote regions. This year, it will take another look at how collaboration across regional borders can foster the circular transition.
The key topics will be creative sectors (creativity for circularity), tourism, construction, seafood, fashion/textiles and funding. Local and international experts will talk about the circular economy, good practices and future opportunities for the Arctic region. The business community will see how the circular economy can help their business by creating more sustainable business models and opening up new revenue streams. It'll also be a great opportunity for networking with people interested in practical solutions enabling the circular economy in remote areas.
Participants will include young entrepreneurs (such as the ICE Arctic Youth Community project), women in business (such as the GENGREEN project), entrepreneurs in the creative sectors, students (high school and university), public and private funding institutions, regional development representatives and high-level representatives of municipalities in the Nordic Arctic region. There will be around 200 participants from at least ten countries.
The event will be structured as follows:
- 7 October: arrivals, side events, workshops, company visits, networking dinner
- 8 October: main day (keynotes, panel discussions, roundtables, expo, networking), evening programme with networking and dinner
- 9 October: breakfast meeting/workshop, company visit, side event, departures.
The ACES will take place on 7-9 October in Kirkenes, Norway. It will be mostly in English, although there will also be a mini-conference on construction which will likely be primarily in Norwegian (possibly with interpreting into English). The event is primarily in person but there will be limited stage streaming and online networking. Registration.
