The missing link in the circular transition

Most cities and regions recognise that the circular transition is about more than materials and technology. For the transition to succeed, circular policies and projects need to work for and with people. Yet translating this ambition into day-to-day policy and projects can be challenging. Should you focus on participation, community initiatives, local jobs, social impact measurement or something else entirely? And where do you start when resources and capacity are limited?

The good news: you don’t have to start from scratch. Across Europe, local authorities are building on existing initiatives, networks and community energy to connect social and circular objectives in practical ways. This workshop explores what those approaches look like in practice. Through real-life examples and peer exchange, you'll discover practical ideas that can be adapted to your own context.

  • Do you work in a local or regional authority on circular economy, sustainability or related topics?
  • Or are you involved in designing or implementing initiatives with and for citizens?
  • Are you curious about how circularity can better serve people in your city or region?

You don’t need a dedicated strategy, formal mandate or extensive experience to join. This workshop will help identify practical opportunities that fit your local context.
